Jake laughed, and looked at Selia. "You okay? You look annoyed.."

"No." She said halfheartedly, but she did look annoyed. Very, very annoyed.

"Oh, you are annoyed. What's wrong?" Jake said nervously. His smile faded away.

"I'm not annoyed. I'm just pissed off. You just made a huge mess, and you're laughing about it! Do you have any common sense?!"

"Whoah, relax! We'll clean it up once the bubbles clear away. Where's your sense of humour?!"

"This isn't humorous! This is a giant mess, and it's all your fault. You never help with laundry anyways, why the hell are you doing it today?!"

"Because I want to help around since we're going to have a child soon. Why are you in a bad mood?"

"I'm in a bad mood because you just screwed up my laundry. That's why I'm in a bad mood." She counted to ten in her head. 1..2....3.... And so on. "Listen, it's not a big deal."

"OH! I know why you're in a bad mood! It's because a tiny little human being is growing inside your tummy right now!" He poked her belly happily.

Her stomach being rather ticklish, Selia giggled. "Well, maybe. But.. Will you please clean this up?"

"Yeah, I'll try!"

"Thanks." Selia went back into the kitchen to do some more crap.

September rolled around, and Selia had the baby. It was a little girl, with only a little hair- very dark brown, so it was noticeable. The baby girl was simply adorable, and Selia had fallen into the role of mother quite well.
She had given up her leadership at the bakery shop (temporarily) to her assistant manager. She had, in one day, completely baby-proofed the apartment, floating up cribs and toys, magically organizing shelves with only baby-safe things on the bottom two rows, and such. She had sent baby proof plugs up every electrical outlet there was, had magically adhered little rubbery coverings on sharp corners, and snapped toilet lid locks on all of the (2) toilets. Instead of messing with the whole kitchen, she just put a baby gate across the doorway. She had scrubbed the carpet so hard it looked just like new, she had shot disinfecting wipes over every single area that it was possible to lay a hand on, along with the tops and bottoms of things, and she had washed every piece of cloth in the apartment.
In the living room, Selia had set up the crib in a corner by a window, after scrubbing that and the crib itself to an obsessive clean, and set up some of the typical mobiles above it, to keep the baby entertained. She had also set out a rubbery mat for the baby to sit on and play on if Selia didn't want her on the carpet, and put a couple of permanent toys next to the mat- an octopus and a lion.
Finally, Selia had stocked the fridge with empty bottles, the diaper bag with overloads of diapers and sanitary wipes, and one whole kitchen cabinet with washcloths and bibs specifically for baby barf. The silverware drawer now had a separate container for baby spoons, and the bathroom had a whole side of the undercabinet all filled up with reusable diapers.
In waging the war on anything that could hurt her little Charlotte, Selia had obliterated every enemy.
"Jake! You can come in with her now. It's all cleaned."

Jake entered with the sweet child in his arms with a big smile. "You know what?" he says happily as he looks at her. "I think it's teething! It bit my finger!"

"Already?" Selia said, looking at the baby curiously. "But doesn't that take longer?"

Charlotte clapped her hands together.

Jake shrugged. "I guess she just likes the taste of my manly fingers!" he wiggled his hand in the air happily. "This place is so clean, it's kind of frightening... What if the smell of cleaning products hurts her lungs?"

"What? Oh my gosh! I didn't think of that!" Selia pointed her wand at a vent, made a sort of constipated face, trying to do the spell in her head. Nothing happened for a few minutes, then it clanged open. "Alright. Well, everything's all ready. We're prepared for anything!"

"That's right we are!" Jake said with a big grin.

"So what do you think? Would you want more than one kid, in the future?"

"Yeah! Of course I do!" he said eagerly.

"Well, good! Because I want more too." Selia went and sat down, smiling. "I'm really tired."

Jake shifted Charlotte to his other arm and then moved in to hug Selia. "Let's put this sucker to bed and head off to bed ourselves.."

"Alright." Selia took Charlotte, put her in the crib, turned out the lights, and went on to bed.

Jake followed suit, and bellyflopped onto the poofy bed of theirs. "I think I'm going to quit work and become a house dad." he sighed into the pillows.

"Well, let's think about it. I could go to work a lot more often. But on the other hand, we'll have less income.." Selia turned and faced him. "Do whatever you want."
