"Since when?"

"Well, I realized five minutes ago, but it's probably been longer. A couple weeks."

"..." Jake was nodding slowly with his mouth slightly agape. "Well, that's pretty cool. Is it a boy or a girl?"

"Honey, I can't tell. A doctor only can, with a sonogram. And, I don't think that's until I'm a couple of months pregnant. Right now, there's not much in there to see."

"Jake!" Selia said, later that morning. Her voice was shaking.
As soon as she had found out she was pregnant, she had gone out and bought herself a book about it. Immediately, it had scared the living crap out of her. The book was filled with stories of stretch marks, food cravings, backaches, puking, deformed babies, failed sonograms, botched C-sections, and everything else that could go wrong during a pregnancy. It was not one of the fluffy happy books introducing new mothers into the world of parenthood- on the other hand, this book was probably published for people looking to sue doctors.
"Jaaaake!" She called again, after reading the chapter on babies who were thrown in the trash.

Jake appeared. "Yes?!" he said nervously.

"What if this happens to me!?" She shouted, holding up the book. There were images of a demon baby clawing her mother's stomach.

Jake nodded slowly and raised an eyebrow. He stroked his chin which had a bit of stubble growing. Eventually, he found the right answer. "Then I'd kill the demon baby and do the Healing charm on you, and get you to St. Mungo's where they've got professional help which will have you back on your feet within ten days."

Selia frowned, then nodded. Then, she turned to the pages about hermaphrodite babies. "What about this?"

He shrugged. "We'll have both a boy and a girl."

"That's true. What about-- No, I won't show you the picture." She looked at the book again. "This is just.. really scary."

"No, show me!"

"You can just read the book, if you want."

"Okay..."

"This is going to be so different. From everything."She paused. "I just can't stop worrying. I hope I won't be this way when I actually have the baby."

Jake nodded. "Yeah, that's true."

"I mean, what if it falls out a window? Do you see what I'm talking about? I'm worried sick here!"

Jake stood up and held Selia arm's width away. "Listen. You will be the most amazing mother out there. Do you trust me?"

"Yes, I trust you." Selia said, sounding a bit exasperated. "That should be obvious by now."

Jake shook his head. "I didn't know what else to say."

"Oh. Well, then.. Happy Christmas!" Selia kissed him on the cheek then went to do some laundry.

Jake decided to try to help her. "Wait, Selia! I want to help!" He yelled and sauntered off after her. "How do you do this?" he asked, lifting some wizard clothing soup. "It smells delicious! Like newly-washed clothes!"

"Well, it's what I wash the clothes in. So, technically, it is the smell of newly washed clothes." Selia pulled her wand out of her apron pocket- she had been cooking earlier and still had it on. "So, what I do is just enchant the clothes to go into the liquid, come in and out three times, then wring themselves out in the bucket. It's a pretty difficult spell, so if it doesn't work the first time, you have to supervise it and charm them in two parts."
So, she taught him the wand movements and incantation, and started off with a laundry basket of white clothes. They all came out on the other side without incident. "Okay, now you try."

He tried it instantly. And the room filled with bubbles and such. "Hahaha, is this supposed to happen?!"

"Um, no.." Selia mumbled, staring around at the room. "Scourgify." She muttered at one of the bubbles- it only got bigger. "Oh gosh.."
