Selia Yashnid was in the kitchen. Not in an abusive husband way. No, not at all, although she was making food, and it was for her husband, but she loved being in the kitchen. She was just cooking, cooking cooking. The reason she was cooking? Because she had just gotten her new bakery space, of course! A bread store had gone bankrupt, and Selia had quickly leapt at the opportunity- a fully furnished bakery! She could barely even imagine the possibilities. The shop was due to open by the beginning of February, just in time for Valentine's Day, and she was in the kitchen so she could make sweets, that would be given to Jake for testing, so she would know what to put in the shop, or what to trash.
The first things out were the pot brownies and the snickerdoodles. She put them on a tray with a glass of water and brought them out onto the table, staring at the samples intently, studying their appearances. "Jake! Will you come try these?"

"Of course, darling!" Jake called out happily, and entered with a big box of things. They had just moved in a week ago, and he was still bringing some things in from the two homes of theirs. He set the box on the floor and came over, looking at her happily. "What is it?"

Selia smiled at him cheerily. "These are snickerdoodles, and those are brownies. I'll have more things out soon, but I need you to tell me the truth. And rate their appearances, too. They have to have curb appeal. By the way, did you sort out our clothes?"

"Yep it's all sorted! I put my boxers and your undergarments together." He said happily and looked at the food. "They look great! They look appealing, and also home-made." He took one brownie and another snickerdoodle. "Yummm..." He had eaten the two at once.

"Oh, you're not supposed to eat them together.. But, that is a rather good idea. I could stick them together with icing.. Alright, thank you. You wouldn't mind trying more? I'll probably be making things all day."

Jake frowned. Sure, this cheered him up. But he didn't want to get FAT! "Yeah, I guess. If you let me get to the gym to do my stuff some times this week." he said with a simple, quick nod.

"Of course you can go to the gym. It's not like I'm going to chain you to the bed and stop you.." Selia grinned. "That came out wrong. But I do have some handcu--" Suddenly, a beeping noise went off in the kitchen, and Selia bustled back into the kitchen. Instead of using her hands, and potentially burning them, she just floated the tray of chocolate chip cookies out of the oven. "Cookies!"

"Selia, you ARE trying to make me fat!"

"I would never do that! Here's some more cookies. Try them, and have some milk. You know, I read a magazine about good ways to burn calories."

"How?" he said as he took the food without hesitation.

"Well, walking a dog. That's about fifty calories per quarter mile. Or cleaning counters. That burns about a hundred calories. Heavy lifting is around one fifty. Here, let me get the magazine." Selia looked around the living room for a few minutes before pulling it out- Cosmopolitan. "Here we go. Dog walking, heavy lifting, counter cleaning, heavy sex, drawing, ooh, talking is a good one, sweeping, dress shopping, using the bathroom, showering.. This is stupid." Selia said, closing it.

Jake frowned. He took a while, taking this all in. Then he stood up. "I have an idea!" he said furiously, and went off to get his coat and shoes. "I'll be back in an hour or two, okay?!"

"Oh, okay!" Selia said. Immediately, she sat down on the sofa and turned on a television program about cakes, and sat in quiet wait, munching on her sweets.

Jake eventually came back home two hours later, like said, with a small case in his arms. "Guess what I got!"

"Um, I dunno, plates?" Selia guessed, simply wanting him to open it. She jumped up from the couch, grinning. "What? What what what?"

"A DOG!" he yelled and opened the box. A small puppy jumped out, with long fluffy dark fur and it was tiny, with floppy ears and a curled wagging tail.

Selia squealed, then dropped to the ground and picked it up gently. "A-awwW!" She exclaimed, hugging it tightly. "It's adorable. Did you name it? How much was it? Are you sure we can take care of a dog?"

"Six-hundred dollars! And I'll walk him morning and afternoon and night. He'll be the best dog ever. We should call him Skippy."

"Six hundred? Well.. That's okay." Selia figured as much as it pained her to spend that much money on a dog, if Jake wanted it, she would go along. She could at least do him that favor. "Well, Skippy, I'm going to spoil you so-o-o-o-o much!"

One fine Christmas morning, Selia was throwing up in the bathroom profusely. She had already skipped a period, and hadn't thought anything of it until now, and was just wondering if she should wait until she was done throwing up to tell Jake what she was nearly positive of.

"Hey, Jake! Would you be fine with it if I was pregnant?" Selia called from the bathroom. Always the laid back approach.

"As long as it's because of me!" he called back not looking up from his magazine.

"Then you're fine with it." Selia replied, and went into the living room, sufficiently cleaned up. "Well, Happy Christmas."

He looked up. "Wait, you're pregnant?"

"Yeah." Selia said, raising her eyebrows. "Didn't I just say so?"
