Illumination Island

Serenity stared at her, eyes huge. "Angel killed someone? In Amsterdam? Am I dreaming?" She asked, any tones of respect gone. She stared at the lady like she was crazy. "That did not happen."

"Unfortunately, it did. It was in the news; I got the call four or so days ago."

Serenity was quiet for a long time, staring at the floor. "But I'm supposed to get married to him.." She said quietly, looking up at the woman. She had started crying. "How did this happen? He couldn't kill anyone. He's not even that s-strong.."

"I heard something about a snapped neck. I don't know all of the details, but... It truly is a shame; what a waste of such a great, great mind..." she trailed off.

"I loved him. And he's a murderer." Serenity said, staring at the rug and shaking her head. "Oh my God.."

She adjusted her collar. "Yes, well, that's in the past now."

"Why are you here, then?" Serenity asked, with a sort of flat tone to her voice. "Why are you here? Your family isn't here. Olivia's not here, and neither is Elroy."

"I thought one of them might have come back... Just per chance."

"It was nice to see you, Mrs. Astor." Serenity said. She got up and apparated, without saying goodbye.

Mrs. Astor took another long look around the living room. She traced her finger on the surface of the coffee table. "... Needs dusting." And so, she apparated away as well.
