The Library

Rachel set her school bag over on a table, and she walked over to one of the aisles of books, and pulled out a reference book on the uses of dragon blood.

As she walked back to the table, a feeling of dread came over her. She had so much homework! How was she ever going to get it done?

Amanda stumbled behind Rachel, and pulled out a book on the Switching Charm. Only two classes and I already have this much work? Maybe I really should learn what I can drop and what I should focus on.. How could I ace all the classes and the tests? This is going to be horrible...

Throwing her bag down next to a chair, Amanda plopped herself onto one of the cushiony chairs. She leaned back in the chair, letting her arms drape over the sides and swish back and forth.

Pulling out a bottle of dull black ink, a quill, and a piece of parchment, Rachel wrote her name in the corner, trying to remember to write neater. She than, out of habit like she usually does, she biting on the feather of the quill, pulling little tuffs of feather out of it. Rachel usually did this when she was trying to think.

"Hey," she took the quill out of her mouth for a minute. "Do you know a good title for the potions essay?" she asked.

Amanda sat up, and using her legs, she pushed her chair in closer to the table. "Um... Ummm... No." As Amanda said this she took out a piece of parchment, quill, and a bottle of blackish blue ink. Carefully, she wrote her name in the top corner of her paper.

"Drat... you know, witty titles of essays and stuff, catch the teacher's eye, and they'll give you a better grade." She than began sucking on her quill again.

Amanda held the quill by the pointy part, and ran her hand on the feather. "Hmmm..."

Rachel, who had finally found inspiration took her quill out of her mouth, dipped an ink, and quickly wrote down the title. "The Wonders of Dragon Blood In Potions: An Essay." She than passed the parchment to Amanda. "What do you think so far?"

Amanda looked at it and shrugged. "Cool.." Then Amanda herself got an idea and she slowly wrote down the title, considering how to make every letter clear and neat.

Amanda then began to think, "...I can't think of any uses."

Rachel stared at her own "essay" and sighed and slumped down. "I can't think of anything either. What's so important about dragon blood anyway? They should just leave the dragons alone."

"I know seriously... Is it dragon's blood that makes the drinker stronger for an hour or so?"

Rachel stared at her for a minute, and quickly wrote down what Amanda just said. "Hey, thanks for that use!"

Amanda shrugged, "I think aloud way too much..." Amanda paused for a moment and thought then began to mutter something, "...Unicorn's blood heals the drinker... yet the only way to get it is to kill which is..." Amanda began to skim the book trying to see if there were illegal uses of dragon's blood.

"We're not learning about unicorn blood though in Potions, we're learning about Dragon blood," said Rachel, snatching the book from Amanda, and flipping through the index of it.

"EEEEE! BOOK SNATTTTTCCCHHHHHHEEEER." Amanda head desked, slowly raising her head about an inch off the table. "My brain shall be fried by the next class."

Then, the librarian came over. "Quiet you two, or you'll be thrown out of the library!" she snapped.

"Sorry Ma'am..." Amanda glared at the book Rachel held as she said this.

Rachel shrugged, and whispered: "It was your fault for yelling so loud," and she continued to read through the index, trying to find something on the uses in Potions.

"Hmph..." Amanda then got up, ran over to Rachel's side of the table, and read over her shoulder.

"Hey, one of the uses is that if it used in antidotes, it will have extra healing strength. Though, it's supposedly extra hard to include it in an antidote..."

"Awhwhahahah... And I it seems that huge amounts can get you a fine from the ministry for it's POWAR."

"But that's not a use in Potion brewing,"

"True."

"Ugh!" said Rachel slamming book close. "This is ridiculous! I might not do the essay at all!"

"Noooo waiiiit, I think I just saw how it effects werewolves..."

"POTIONS, AMANDA. POTIONS." She said a little louder than she was supposed too.

The librarian approached them again. "Alright you two, you have one more chance. But if you guys make to much noise AGAIN, than you're OUT!"
