He stared at her. "You don't get it, though. What I feel."

Rachel stared at him. "For all we know, I could be sobbing too in a few minutes, once someone delivers the news about Karin. But let's not think about that." and she continued to try to clean up Eric's wound.

She pointed her wand at it. "Scourgify." And nothing happened.

"I was always bad at household spells." and she ended up cleaning it the old-fashioned way.

"You're strong."

"No I'm not. I wasn't able to save him. I just stood there like an idiot. I want to kill all the Death Eaters I see. It's their fault. He wouldn't be in this mess if it weren't for them." he muttered.

She sighed sadly. "No you're not an idiot... everything happens for a reason. Your friend is in peace now. He is perfectly happy." she chucked slightly. "It seems like I've played mother to many different people, tonight."

Eric stood up. "Thanks. I guess I'll go to the Great Hall."

She then jumped up as well, and hugged him. "Your friends with Nick, aren't you? Could you... keep an eye out for him, too?"

"Nick is that guy from the Room of Requirement, right? I think I know who you're talking about. And... you're friends with Kelsi, right? You should try to break the news gently to her- because, it's her brother who died." Eric said with a straight face. He held his shoulder tightly and stumbled off.

"Kelsi... Fry..." she felt the tears welled up in her eyes. She had to do this herself. As she stumbled away, trying to figure out where Kelsi was, she felt completely numb. Rachel never thought of herself as someone to deliver the news of someone's death.

This was the longest night.
