First Staircase

"Rachel! You told me you'd die for your beliefs one time at the Great Hall! Yuu told me you are no coward and you will always stand! And I believe you can!"

Fry looked at Amanda with sparkling eyes. "THANK YOU! That's exactly what I've been trying to say!" he cried out, clutching his head. "Where's Holly?! I need to see her!"

Kelsi sighed. "You'll get to see your little girlfriend soon. We first have to get to the Great Hall." she said, nodding at the others. She was really pale, too. "I'll go with you, Libby."

Robin turned to Rachel, and took her hands. "You do what you want. It's your choice. But if anything, if you want to get out of here, go to the Room of Requirement, that's where all the evacuating is occurring."

"Ro-Robin." she squeezed her hands, tightly, as though she was a little girl holding onto to her mother for protection. She then grabbed her shoulders, and buried her face into Robin, and began to sob.

Amanda stepped back, staring at Rachel for a moment. "I'm s-s-orry..."

"C'mon, then! We'll have to run and drop my bag off in the common room, I can't fight with it." Libby grabbed Kelsi's hand, and took off in the direction of the common room. "And we'll have to warn the Hufflepuffs, too!"

Amanda looked at her departing friends, back at Rachel and Robin, then started to run off to the Great Hall.

Kelsi laughed nervously. "I get to see the common room once more!" she cried out.

Robin hugged Rachel. "Listen, I'm not going to get out of this. You wouldn't believe how they treated me when I was taken away. It's payback time." She smiled, and disappeared to the Great Hall.

She turned to Nick, sadly.

"Nick... you're going, aren't you?"

Nicolas nodded solemnly, and pulled Rachel into a tight squeeze. He was slightly taller than her, now. "I'm sorry. But, Robin said it--it's revenge. I have to go and help out."

"No..." Rachel began to sob all over again. She looked up at him. "I don't want you to die! You've been through enough as it is! You're all acting so... stupid! You could DIE just because of your selfish desires!"

Nicolas shook his head. "Says the one who wanted to kill every one of them yourself! Rachel, I know what I'm doing. This isn't just for me. It's for Robin, the Cruises, my sister, the Muggle-borns who all got stuck in this mess!" He said this a bit harsher than he had intended. He lowered his voice, and stared straight into her eyes. "I'm not going to die out there. That's a promise. But, just in case something happens to me... I love you."

With that, he leaned down, and kissed her.

Rachel stepped away from the kiss, and stared up right into his eyes, not all intimidated.

"Show it to me then. Actions speak louder then words."

"Do you really want to do that?" he arched an eyebrow, but took her hand and slowly began walking off. In the general direction of the nearest broom closet.

"Of course!" And she trailed after him.

Eric tried to get up the stairs, but slipped and fell on his injured shoulder. He swore, and sat up. There was nobody on this staircase. So, he just buried his face in his arms and stayed there.

Rachel had fallen him, looking very angry, but when she saw the crying figure, her heart melted slightly. Instead, she sat next to him, and continued to try her best at tending his wound.

"Listen right here. You're acting in a terrible cruel way. I don't know who your best friend is, but right now, he is looking down at you from Heaven, and he's feeling terribly disappointed by how selfish and cruel you're acting. This best friend of yours' would want you to accept my offer, and YOU stop going around shouting like that! You're doing a terrible job honoring him!"

Her face softened even more. "But, you may continue crying, if you want too. And, you can use my shoulder."
