A staircase

"We could go back to the Entrance Hall. You can heal people-I'm no good at that. Or we can just console them. Anyone could be good at that."

"I'm not good at it either. And I don't want to do that. I want to fight." her hair hid her face.

Rachel stared at her sadly for a long time, before sighing. "Okay, we can fight, if you really want too so badly."

Kelsi nodded. "Defend the school."

"Where do we go from here, then?" she asked.

Kelsi had already appeared at the top of the staircase with her wand in her hand.

And so, Kelsi and Rachel appeared here once more. Kelsi sighed, and pressed her back against Rachel's. "A mess, we are..."

Rachel laughed weakly, as she tried to brush off all the grime and dust off her clothes. It was no use, so she stopped.

"Look at us Kelsi." she said with a sad chuckle. "We can't duel other wizards, we can't heal, or do anything useful in times of war. What the heck are we doing here?!"

Kelsi laughed humorlessly as she rubbed her face. "I don't know. We're both in similar problems, too."

"Yeah. We're the resident goonies of Hogwarts who are running around trying to do something." she laughed again, and she shook her head.

Kelsi sighed. Her eyes were closed. "Think of it positively- we've been trying, and we're changing history. Or the history planned by Lord Voldemort." She didn't care anymore. Saying his name. She didn't care about anything.

Rachel shuddered. "Please don't-" but she took one look at her face, and she didn't finish her sentence. Instead, she gave her a big hug.

Kelsi hugged Rachel back. "I never knew it would end like this. I just want to stand up and leave."

"Don't worry." she said in a deliberate attempt to comfort her. "This will all be over soon enough!" she decided to change the subject. "Let's say that You-Know-Who never returned, what career do you think you'll be studying for right now?"

Kelsi frowned. "No matter how much I leave, I don't want to finish school. And I want to make sure the same doesn't happen again.. I think I'd want to be a teacher here. You know how much I love Transfiguration. And how good I am at it. Hell, if I had the energy I normally had, I could transform this banister into a snake."

"That would be great!" Rachel leaned back, and relaxed a little. "Professor Brown..." she winked at her. "It has a nice ring to it. But you'd probably would terrorize all your students."

Kelsi grew red. "B-Brown? Terrorize?! No! I'd be the nicest teacher in the school! I'd give them lollipops every day... and give them the easiest homework. I'd be very understanding with my students."

[... IF ALL THE RAIN WAS LOLLIPOPS AND GUMDROPS OH WHAT A RAIN IT WOULD BE.~]

"Let's face it Kelsi. You'd lose your patience with all the kids, especially the first years who have no idea what they're doing." She suddenly looked very mean and scary.

"DAMN IT BOBBY! WE'RE SUPPOSED TO TURN THE MATCH INTO A NEEDLE NOT BREAK IT! AGH!! YOU'RE GOING TO BE THROWN DOWN TO THE FIREY PITS OF THE DUNGEON!"

"Kelsi." murmured Rachel, pulling on Kelsi's sleeve with a shaking hand. "We-we gotta go."

[[Crap. I didn't see the reply.]]

Kelsi had grown red. "I wouldn't say that to those adorable little first years!" Her voice sounded forced and her hands had balled a bit like she was crushing something. She didn't want to admit that it was kind of true.

But, now, Kelsi turned to Rachel. She looked horrified. It was over. They were losers. "Rachel..." tears welled up into her eyes. "We lost..."

Rachel stood up, her body still shaking. "Let's go. We might be killed if we don't get in there for all we know."

She then held out her hand for Kelsi to hold. Not in a lesbian way. In a friendship way. Because girls do that.

Kelsi pulled herself up, disregarding the hand. "It's over for me, Rachel. Either way." But, she still went with her friend. The two left together.

"You won't die!" she said fiercely. Even in this serious situation, she looked a bit offended because Kelsi wouldn't hold her hand. "...Everything will be okay."

Kelsi didn't see how it would be, considering Voldemort had won, but she didn't say anything. Best to hope for the impossible. "Yes, hopefully a miracle will come our way."
