A Flat in Diagon Alley

Nicky arrived home later that evening. He hung his traveling cloak up on a hook next to the door, and called out into the house. "Rachel? I'm home!"

Rachel walked in, and crossed her arms at him, glaring at him. "Where have you been?! I had a nice lunch set up for you and everything! Now it's past dinner!" she sighed. "Let me heat you something up..." she said grouchily.

Nicolas shrugged guiltily. "I'm sorry--but you'd never believe what happened! I got to stop a protest in Hogsmeade, and my coworkers are..." and he began going into a lengthy rant about his work, and his boss, and the protest and what-not.

"You had a hard day?" asked Rachel, as she heated up some baked potatoes. She then walked over and frowned at him. "I feel bad for you... you're just new afterall. And, I'd like to tell your boss a few things, myself." and she stroked a lose strand of his hair carefully.

He sat down at the table. "But, it's only the first day! It can only go up from here, can't it? I mean, I got to lead a whole investigation, on my first day. And please, don't talk to my boss... I can barely talk to him, myself." He laughed nervously, resting his chin in his palm.

"I thought things usually went downhill." she said saucily. But she then served him a plate of dinner, and sat across from him, smiling. "And why shouldn't I talk to your boss? You're just a scaredy-cat!"

He pointed his fork at her. "Because it's only my first day. I'm sure they're always like this to the new guys. Gives them something to expect, maybe?" He began to eat.

"I know, but, do you REALLY want to be an Auror, I'm worried about you. You can get stressed out easily, or there can be work overload, or you could get hurt..."

Nicolas waved his hand. "Rachel, if I didn't really want to be an Auror, I wouldn't be working there, would I? I've wanted to for years!"

She shook her head. "I know I know, I understand. I'm happy you're achieving what you want."

[They turned 20 years older in a day D8]

Rachel was sitting around, knitting. She was finishing up the scarf she was making for Nick, and just in time to for Christmas in a couple of days.

Amanda stood at the door of the flat, wrapped around in the black cloak with silky yellow inside it she had bought oh so long ago at a Hogsmeade trip. She knocked loudly, quickly regretting it. Ooooh... What if they broke up!?

Rachel got up slowly, and she carefully made her way over to the door. Her belly was huge now, and she was ready to 'pop' any day now. But she was very happy to see Amanda-she hadn't seen her since school ended.

"Amanda!" she cried out happily. "Come in!"

Amanda smiled happily, and walked in. "Oh Rachel! This is such a lovely fla--" Amanda stared at her stomach. "...So...when did you visit a broom closet?"

"Battle Of Hogwarts." she said grimly. "But, let's not talk about that. We've been married for a while, and the baby is due anytime now."

"Oooh, congratulations!... Have you guys thrown it a baby shower?"

She shook her head. "No, we haven't been able to afford one. But, it doesn't matter. If we have anymore children, we'll have one." she smiled at Amanda anyway. "Take a seat and relax!"

"Awh, that's too bad... So, is it a boy or a girl?"
